Gary Abrahamson, of Edgewater, Florida passed away on Wednesday, September 13 ^th , 2023, at the age of 73.

Born in Norwich, Connecticut on October 12, 1949 to Ernest Albert Abrahamson and Emma Mae Abrahamson (m. Brousseau), Gary was one of six children. Gary grew up in Norwich, Connecticut and graduated from the Norwich Free Academy on June 10 ^th , 1969. Shortly after graduation, he joined the United States Army and served in Vietnam where he earned three service medals. After returning home, Gary married and had two children (Wendy and Jason A.) and joined the United States Coast Guard.

In 1979, Gary relocated his family to Edgewater, Florida where he started his successful construction business and worked in the home building industry until retirement. He later remarried with his current wife Patricia Abrahamson (m. Miles). Throughout his life, he enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, camping, hunting, boating, auto racing, woodworking, and spending time with his family. Gary was known for being a hard worker, proud veteran, dedicated family man, skilled craftsman, and a friend to all who have known him. After retirement, Gary enjoyed family gatherings, morning drives on the beach, a glass of wine with his friends at the VFW Post 4250 and relaxing at home with his two dogs watching NASCAR and football. Gary will be remembered as a simple and kind man who was caring, optimistic, empathetic, and fun-loving who passed on his vast knowledge and guidance to future generations to continue his legacy.

Gary is survived by his mother Emma Abrahamson (m. Brousseau), wife Patricia Abrahamson (m. Miles), his two children Wendy Lewis (s. Michael Lewis Sr.) and Jason Abrahamson, his grandchildren Carrie Lewis-Perez (s. Wilson Perez), Michael Lewis Jr., and Alyssa Schofield, and his stepdaughter Alicia Schofield (s. J.D. Schofield). Gary is also survived by his siblings Gail, Wayne, Karen, and Ernie Abrahamson. Gary is predeceased by his father Ernest Abrahamson and brother Charles Abrahamson.

Gary's memorial service will be held on October 13 ^th , 2023 at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery at 1pm (5525 US1 N. Mims, Florida 32754). The service will be followed by a Celebration of Life at VFW Post 4250 in New Smyrna Beach (2350 Sunset Dr. New Smyrna Beach, Florida 32168).

In memory of Gary, a donation can be submitted to the VFW Post 4250 via mail on behalf of Gary Abrahamson, or during the celebration of life where a donation box will be available. Flowers may also be sent directly to the VFW Post 4250 on the day of October 13 ^th to be presented during the Celebration of Life event.
