Gary Lee Johnson, 70 of Ft Myers, Florida passed away among family on August 25, 2024, in

Cape Coral, Florida. Gary was born on October 13,1953 in Pavo, Georgia. He attended Central

High School in Thomasville, Georgia and graduated with the Class of 1972. Gary relocated to Ft

Myers, Florida to follow his career in sales. Gary met Bonnie Campen while living in Ft. Myers.

On June 30,1990 he married Bonnie Lynn, the love of his life! In 1997 Gary and Bonnie

welcomed a son, William Ashley Johnson. Later in life Gary became a General Contractor and

started G L Johnson, LLC along with his son, Will. He loved his family, hunting, and fishing. As

he prepared for retirement, he began spending a month in the keys each summer…a yearly

tradition he started with family and friends. When he returned home, he loved sharing stories of

his adventures. Gary was preceded in death by his father, Lee Ashley Johnson and mother,

Marie Furney Crain. He is survived by wife, Bonnie Lynn Johnson; three children, son William

Ashley Johnson and wife Brooke, daughters Kristina Maria Rhoden and husband Brad, and

Stephanie Chae Johnson; three grandchildren, Marissa Hudson, Andrew Rhoden and Tristin

Sawyer; two sisters, Linda Dickins and Sue Stone; his in-laws, Henry Campen, and Pamela

Campen, two sister in laws, a brother in law and several nieces and nephews
