Obituary

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Gary Richard Krusenoski Sr., who departed from this world on February 17, 2025, at the age of 67. He passed away at his home in Sarasota, FL, surrounded by his family. He was a beloved member of our family and his legacy will endure in the hearts of all who were privileged to know him.

Early Life

Gary was born on May 14, 1957 at St. Francis hospital in Blue Island, Illinois to parents, Dolores (Szczecina) Krusenoski and Richard Krusenoski who both preceded him in death. He was one of four siblings which included two brothers Eugene (Janet) Krusenoski and James (Robin) Krusenoski. His favorite things to do as a child was playing backyard baseball with his brothers and cousins. He was raised in Calumet Park, IL and was a volunteer firefighter awarded with special accommodations. He pursued his education at Marist High School, where he discovered his lifelong passion for engineering after listening to a guest professor speak.

Family

Gary met Donna (Austin) at a bar called "Eric the Red" in 1983 and were united in matrimony a year later in 1984. They went to Maui for their honeymoon and would go on to share 40 wonderful years together. He was a devoted parent, survived by his daughter, Drumarie (Jared) Grandon and son, Gary (Jess) Krusenoski Jr. He would raise his children in Guttenberg, Iowa and Carol Stream, Illinois, then retired with his wife in Sarasota, Florida. He has six wonderful grandchildren including four girls (Sophia, Hannah, Kelly and Julie), two boys (Ethan and William), a supportive sister-in-law Patricia (Darrell) Latva and many loving nieces and nephews.

Personal Life

Gary's notable personal traits were being kind, caring and family oriented. He was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 1990 and battled through the disease for 35 years, but always kept in good spirits. His motto was "You don't always get to decide on what you're given in life; it's how you live your life with all its challenges that counts."

Professional Life

Gary attended Bradley University to achieve his bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering and graduated with honors. He enjoyed a distinguished career as an engineering manager working for several companies, most notably at Shakeproof (ITW) and MacLean-Fogg in Mundelein, IL. His colleagues held him in the highest regard for his work ethic.

Hobbies and Interests

During his leisure time, Gary found joy in watching his favorite sports teams, including the Chicago Bears, Chicago White Sox and Chicago Blackhawks. He shared his passions with family and

friends, most notably introducing The Three Stooges to his grandchildren. His favorite foods were a sausage combo with sweet peppers from Portillos and Chicago style deep dish pizza from Lou Malnatis. He also may have occasionally enjoyed an IPA beer.

Memorial Service

A celebration of life to honor Gary will be held on a future date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any contributions made in the memory of Gary be made to: Sarasota Shell Club Scholarship Fund, 12930 Basilica Drive, Venice, FL 34293.

Gary will be profoundly missed by all who knew him, but his courage, and love will continue to inspire us. Rest in peace.
