Obituary

Gary Allen Ringer, a man whose laughter was infectious and whose heart was as big as the sky, passed away on April 23, 2026, at the age of 83.

Born on December 18, 1942, in Sacramento, California, Gary was the son of Nathan and Dena Ringer. He was never one to blend into the background. Gary lived boldly, loved deeply, and believed that anything worth doing was worth doing with an unforgettable flair. A master golfer, pool player, and collector of vibrant shirts and shorts; he had a gift for turning even the simplest outing — especially trips to the casino-into a grand adventure.

Gary proudly served his country in the United States Navy. Following his service, he dedicated over 35 years to the United States Postal Service, retiring as a postmaster in Rochester, New York. In retirement, Gary and his beloved wife, Linda, moved to The Villages, Florida, where they built lasting friendships and fully embraced their shared passion for golf. He was also an active member of the local American Legion.

Above all, Gary was a devoted family man. He shared 53 wonderful years of marriage with his wile, Linda. He was a loving father to Scott (Laura) and Lisa (Robert), a proud grandfather to Rebecca (Rob), Jared, Cailey, and Nathan, and a joyful great-grandfather to Maddie and Ben.

Gary is also survived by his brother Ronald (Deborah), as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. He was the glue that kept stories alive and the spirit that filled every room he entered.

Gary's bright presence will be deepiy missed by all who knew and loved him.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Gary's memory to Cornerstone Hospice, 601 Mariposa Way, The Villages, Florida 32162.
