Gary Lee Stayrook, 73 of Summerfield, FL was born May 30, 1952, in Dayton, OH. He grew up in Akron, OH on Portage Lake where he enjoyed swimming and boating in summer and sledding and ice skating in winter. He attended Manchester High School and then served in the US Navy for several years.

He worked in the Ohio rubber plants and eventually moved to Charleston, SC where he worked in the printing industry. He and his family owned and operated BPS Printing until 1995 when he met his wife Cathy of 31 years, at that time he started driving a semi-truck and worked in the transportation industry relocating to Florida. He retired in 2018 and moved to the mountains of North Carolina for several years. Gary became ill and moved back to Florida where he was diagnosed with Bulbar ALS. He passed away peacefully at home and went to his final resting place Tuesday, April 14. 2026.

No public service is planned at this time. Gary was predeceased in death by his older brother Donnie, his mother Opal Mae and Pop his dad Delmar Franklin Stayrook.

He is survived by his wife Cathy, 3 stepchildren Denny, Jody, and April. His brother Larry Stayrook (Dale) of West Ashley, SC and a sister Kathy Ann Bennett Stayrook of Bonita Springs, FL. A wealth of nieces and nephews and their children.

If Gary was still alive, he would tell you he had a good life!
