IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Geoffrey
Todd
March 2, 1943 – November 27, 2024
Geoffrey Todd. 03/02/1943-11/27/2024
It's been a year now since Geoff's passing and I wanted to share his obituary. I thought now would be a good time, you know, for dramatic effect. Geoff had a voracious appetite for life and found a way to explore so many different places and interests but his real love was people. If you measure wealth by love and friendship he was the richest man I have known. So many close friends and family all over this planet adored him, helped no doubt by my mothers letter writing to keep in touch.
He had so many hobbies including motorcycles, Jaguars, RC models, photography, sailing, flying, gardening, traveling, wine, and of course the biggest one he shared with Lynne, Theater. Every hobby was researched and experienced to the fullest, he owned iconic bikes and helped design and build a sidecar rig (mom didn't go for it), he owned the nicest Jaguar in Bradenton. He owned a RC model store "The Hobby Hangar" and was president of the local club. He built all his models from scratch from blueprints and sold them to people who then proceeded to crash them. My folks told me one day "we're sailing to Key West with some friends next week" gone on another adventure for weeks! We drove across Europe and boated the canals of Britain, Geoff keeping a captain's log of course. We rode the fastest bikes all around the Carolina mountains and conquered the "tail of the dragon".
He wanted to grow some vegetables, against my better judgement, so he enrolled at the University of Florida and became a certified Master Gardener. This led to him volunteering to man a hotline for people to ask questions about dirt? He had a top of the line Cannon camera so he could take excessive amounts of dog and motorcycle photos. Of course every hobby came with new acquaintances who quickly became friends. Often sitting around campfires, splashing in a pool or taking up the biggest table in a restaurant.
So as you all should know the Theater is where he shined the brightest, a classically trained Shakespearian actor who's claim to fame was being an "Ogron" in Dr. Who. Really he loved all of his roles and there were many excellent performances that commanded the audiences full attention and always got the intended reaction. Finally he took on the role of Producer where he got to choose what plays to bring to his community and teach his craft to his cast. He made sure there was always a fitting celebration after the spotlights went dark on the last curtain. After he retired he enjoyed driving the Jag downtown to the pub where he befriended the local crowd. I got to tag along for lots of adventures and learned so much from my Pops. He loved the finer things in life but that's not quite right, he was one of the finer things in life.
He is survived by me, a ten year old with bad table manners when we met, who he decided to take on the challenge of raising properly. By his Nephew Paul and Nieces Dawn and Mary.
