George Woodside Benson, 87, formerly of Pittsburgh and later Largo, passed away peacefully on May 6, 2026. George was born on July 26, 1938 and proudly served in the United States Army and later enjoyed many happy years in Florida, spending time at the beach and with friends at Bel Aire Mobile Home Estates.

He is survived by his children, Christopher Benson (Lora) and Tracey Safran (Peter); grandchildren Amanda Vogt, Erik Vogt (Christina), Ethan Safran, and Lilly Safran; and great-grandchildren Aiden Greenough, Colton Vogt, Kailey Vogt, Hank Bennett, and Halle Bennett.

A military funeral will be held Friday, June 12, at 11:00 a.m. at Bay Pines National Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will follow on Saturday, June 13, at 1:00 p.m. with lunch at Largo Elks Lodge #2159.
