IN LOVING MEMORY OF

Brazis
November 1, 1965 – July 23, 2025
In Loving Memory
A Tribute to a Life Well-Lived
It is with deep sadness to announce the passing of George S. Brazis, aged 59, whose memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him. His journey graced the world with kindness, laughter, and a gentle presence that brightened countless lives. George passed away on Wednesday, July 23, 2025 surrounded by his loving family.
A resident of Port Charlotte, Florida, he is survived by the love of his life, Janice Marz, children, Cassandra Marz of Port Charlotte, Florida, Nathan Marz (Kayla) of North Port, Florida, Tyler Marz of Port Charlotte, Florida and Travis Marz (Jennifer) of Tampa, Florida. Also surviving him are sisters Jean DeVey of Marion, New York, Dorothy Egan of St. Petersburg, Florida, Laurie Whipple (Jack) of Punta Gorda, Florida and Diane Burandt of Brockport, New York plus numerous nieces and nephews. His grandchildren, Jaylyn Drennon, Brielle Kilduff and Beckham Kilduff will miss his kind attention and guidance. He is predeceased by brothers Leonard Brazis, Steven Brazis, Edward Brazis and Albert Brazis, father Leonard Brazis and mother Mildred Brazis.
George was employed by the Wyvern Hotel in Punta Gorda for the last 12 years. The Wyvern, a luxury venue, is popular with out-of-town guests and a dining choice for discerning locals. He rose to the level of sous chef due to his dedication, talent and his "never missing a day" record. At a recent family meeting with the hotel management, we heard many examples of his importance to the business. He touched all working there from the housekeeping staff to the management and the ownership. To emphasize their appreciation of his efforts, the owner approved a memorial plaque to be created and hung in the formal hotel entrance. Heartfelt thanks to Melissa, Tere, Aaron and Kevin for sharing their feelings about George's accomplishments.
In 1958 the band, The Teddy Bears, had a hit song titled "To Know Him is To Love Him". This title actually is a statement about George's life. Never condescending or judgmental, he treated everyone with respect and kindness. He deeply loved Jan and his family and treated friends with humorous engagement. He attacked problems at their core and always had a soft, gentle solution. "It'll be okay" was his favorite line in times of conflict or strife.
George was an athlete. He played all sports, rode motocross motorcycles and was unbeatable at darts. He played golf competitively with a wager on every hole. He also was a diehard Miami Dolphins fan. His collection of Dolphins-themed clothes and memorabilia is unmatched in history.
Rest in peace. You will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered.
There will be a celebration of life held for him and his family on Sunday, August 17, 2025, from 11am until 2pm. All family, coworkers and friends are invited to attend:
