George Fierst,
Jr.
February 14, 1939 – June 15, 2023
George Henry Fierst, Jr. passed away peacefully at home on June 15, 2023 at age 84 after a courageous battle with cancer. George was born to George Henry Fierst, Sr. and Alice Marion Lightfoot Fierst on February 14, 1939 in Braddock, PA.
George was a veteran of the United States Navy. He had a long career as a master locksmith and retired from Mayview State Hospital in 2001.
George married Tobey Baron Castellan in 1983 and had been happily married for 39 years. They raised four children together: Terri-Lynn (P. Andrew) Torrez, Nichole (Ron) Thon, Tabitha (Knute) Bemis and Aspen (Joe) Wentz. He loved spending time with his four grandchildren: Cody Olvera, Alanna (Dirk) Bonnell, Alex Torrez and Brendan Bemis, and two great-grandchildren: Marley Olvera and Josie Bonnell. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters, Geraldine and Margaret.
He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served as a temple worker at the Orlando Florida Temple. He was a Past Master of the John E. Mair Masonic Lodge #729 in Mars, PA, a member of Chapter of Rose Croix and a member of all bodies of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of New Castle. He loved fishing, hunting, building model rockets, gardening, canning and cooking for his family.
