George R. Guest, beloved father and friend, passed away peacefully on June 10, 2026, at the age of 88. Born on December 15, 1937 in Norristown, PA, George was a cherished figure in his community and will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
George's life was a tapestry of rich experiences, woven together by a variety of careers that showcased his versatile talents and enduring work ethic. His professional journey began at Chatlins Department Store in Norristown where he met the love of his life, Margaret A.(Loudon)Guest. Their love story spanned an incredible 64 years, marked by mutual devotion and countless shared memories.
Throughout his life George embraced deverse roles with enthusiasm and dedication. He worked in maintenance, construction, waste water management, each role reflecting his commitment to hard work and excellence. George's dynamic career also included a stint in private security protecting the entertainers at the Valley Forge Music Fair. However it was his passion for dog training that truly captured his heart. As a trainer of obedience and police/security dogs, he collaborated with several police departments across Montgomery County and served as the K-9 kennel manager for the Norristown Police Department. His contributions in this field were invaluable and left a lasting impact on his community.
Beyond his professional life, George's heart was filled with love for animals. His home was a haven for horses, chickens, ducks, dogs and cats, each one benefiting from his gentle care and boundless affection. Music was another of George's great loves. He enjoyed sharing his passion for all types of music with those around him, and his talents on the guitar and lap dulcimer were a source joy for family and friends.
George's zest for life was evident in his love for the outdoors, whether he was camping, keeping busy with various projects, or spending cherished moments with family and friends. His warmth and kindness extended beyond his immediate family, embracing numerous neices, nephews, great nieces, nephews and great great nieces and nephews. He also shared a special bond with Tina Guzzardo Marcinek a daughter/friend from another family that held a unique place in his heart.
George was preceded in death by his loving parents, George Guest and Mary Elizabeth (Fillman)Guest, his devoted wife Margaret, his brother, James D. Guest and his sister Margaret (Guest)Sadow. He leaves behind his daughter, Jean Guest, his son, George Guest and his partner Paul Scheel, who will carry forward his legacy of love and laughter.
A private service will be held to honor George's life in accordance with his wishes. As we remember George, we celebrate a life well lived marked by love, laughter and a profound generosity of spirit. In his memory may we find comfort and in his legacy, may we find the inspiration to live our own lives with as much joy and kindness as he did.
