George Louis Jones, Jr, passed away June 14, 2016 from corticobasal degenerative disease, a rare form of Parkinson's.  He was 77. George is survived by his wife of 52 years, Kathleen Louise Jones (née Fineran), sons, Michael Louis Jones and Thomas Christopher Jones, daughter, Lynn Marie Roy (husband, Santanu Roy), granddaughters, Victoria Lynn Jones, Rachael Elizabeth Jones and Violet Aubrey Roy, grandsons, Matthew Christian Mills and Zachary Michael Jones, sisters Marilyn Semiraglio and Beverly Miladin.  George was born in Camden, New Jersey on November 18, 1938. He is the oldest of three children born to George Louis Jones, Sr. and Linda Dorothy Jones (née Abbott).  George graduated from Camden High School in 1956 and enrolled in the US Air Force the same year, spending three and a half years abroad living in London and Paris.  He returned from the Air Force in 1960 to the Philadelphia area to pursue a music career as a learned jazz guitarist.  In June of 1962, George met Kathy while playing at Benny's Rebel Room in Washington, DC.  She was 18.  He was 23.  They were married in October 1963.  They lived in the Camden, NJ area until 1974 when they moved their family to Orlando.  In Florida, George changed careers to become a systems analysts, working at Darden Restaurants ("Red Lobster") for 23 years before retiring in December 1997 to work as a consultant on the Y2K cutover.  George and Kathy travelled extensively during his consultant days, from Dec 1997 to March 2007, working in such places as Scottsdale, AZ, Mobile, AL, Philadelphia, PA, Louisville, KY, Milwaukee, WI, Greeneville, SC, Pittsburgh, PA and even returning to his hometown of Camden, NJ to work for Campbell Soup. George fought this dreadful disease from beginning to end with the courage and tenacity that those who knew him would expect.  He never gave up hope, never stopped fighting. My family would like to extend our sincerest thanks to the staff of Halifax Health Hospice of Daytona Beach, who rendered dignified and compassionate care.
