George A. McCarty "Mac", MD., age 81, of Ft. Myers, Florida, passed away peacefully, with his wife, Mary Ann, by his side, due to complications of Parkinson's Disease on June 12, 2024.

Mac served in the U.S. Army as a General Medical Officer in Germany for 3 years. Following his service, he practiced Obstetrics and Gynecology at William Beaumont Hospital in Michigan for 34 years. He felt privileged to have trained decades of resident doctors. He was "Teacher of the Year" and delivered over 5,000 babies.

Mac and Mary Ann retired to Heritage Palms Country Club in Ft. Myers, where he continued his "career" in golf and cheering on his Michigan Wolverines. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Ann, five children, Robert McCarty (Libby), Barbara Clauer (Chris), Andrew Dunn (Jill), John Dunn, Christian Dunn (Britney), 11 grandchildren, and his best little pal, Scout.

A private service and committal with military honors, will be held at Sarasota National Cemetery.
