George F Mahoney of Englewood, FL died April 7, 2024 at age 82. He was born in Brooklyn, NY on December 13,1941 In 1959 he entered the Society of Jesus in Plattsburg, NY. He matriculated at Fordham University and Woodstock College. In his scholastic years, he taught at his former alma mater, Brooklyn Preparatory School. He left the Society in 1973 and taught at Friends Seminary in NYC until 1976. He returned to theological studies at Weston College in Cambridge, graduating in 1977. He was ordained a priest in 1978 and served in various parishes in the Worcester Diocese. In 1991, he left ministry and established his own training and consulting business. Upon retiring in 2009, he and his wife moved to Englewood, FL. He leaves his wife of 31 years, Diane (Shoemaker Dilling), a stepson Eric Dilling, a stepdaughter Karen Moffatt and five grandchildren. He also leaves his sister Michele Skobla of Lindenhurst, NY, six nieces and nephews. A funeral mass will be said at St. Joseph Church, Fitchburg, MA on July 13 at 11:00 AM. He was deeply loved and will be sorely missed.
