Obituary

George Charles Mavrogeorge, 68, of Fort Myers, passed away Saturday, April 7, 2018. He was born July 23, 1949 in Boston, MA to Harry and Aspasia Mavrogeorge.  George was a caring man with a very caring heart.  As the second child in a family of twelve children, George was loved by his younger siblings.  In 1967, during the escalation of the war in Southeast Asia, known as the "Vietnam War," George enlisted in the United States Navy.  George served two tours in Vietnam as a member of the Navy.  George was proud of his service to his country, which he loved.  George also loved the United States Navy, and wore his title of "Vietnam Navy Veteran" as a badge of honor – and it was well earned.

George loved his parents dearly, as well as his eleven brothers and sisters.  Whenever anybody from his family would talk with George, whether by telephone or in person, you would be sure to have George inquire about the welfare of their family – especially concerning his nieces and nephews.  Family was an important part of George's heart.

George enjoyed spending time with his brothers, smoking a fine cigar with them, and spending time talking and laughing.  George had a tremendous sense of humor and loved to laugh.

He was a hard worker from very early on in his life and lasted for most of his adult years, until illness forced George from doing those things he loved.  He spent many years as a master tile and mason mechanic.  He taught his youngest brother the skills he had learned from his own time working with their father.  Later, as a lover of fine automobiles, George entered the world of automotive sales.  George was a wonderful conversationalist and was a "natural" in the field of sales.  He worked his way up to General Manager in a very large auto dealership group.

Even in his final months, and while bearing great pain, George loved talking with his family and always expressed his concern and prayers for each one.

George loved his Lord Jesus Christ and was assured of his entrance into Christ's kingdom.  He believed fully in God's great grace and knew of the Living Hope that was promised to him by Jesus, his savior.

He is survived by eleven siblings; seven brothers and four sisters; Harry A. Mavrogeorge Jr. and his wife Teri of Weymouth, MA; Gregory Mavrogeorge of Litchfield, NH; Joann Catman and her husband Steven of Litchfield NH; Angela McFarland and her husband Chris of St. Petersburg, FL; John H. Mavrogeorge and his wife April of Ft. Myers, FL; James H. Mavrogeorge and his wife Susan of Hudson, NH; Diane Tousley of Swanzey, NH, Charles H. Mavrogeorge and his wife Kim of Hudson, NH; Alex H. Mavrogeorge of Litchfield, NH; Melina Bouley and her husband Mike of Providence Forge, VA; Michael H. Mavrogeorge of Kingston, NH.  He is also survived by over forty nieces and nephews who loved their Uncle George, as well as numerous great-nephews and nieces.

He is preceded in death by his beloved parents, Harry A. and Aspasia (Lenton) Mavrogeorge, and niece, Tia Marie Mavrogeorge; whom he loved dearly and is now reunited with them in the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
