Lt Commander George Edward Scheufele Ret. passed March 21 at home surrounded by family in New Smyrna Beach Fl.  Born June 9, 1931 in Philadelphia Pa to William F Scheufele and Lillian Laager Scheufele, preceded by sisters Marion, Lillian and Olivia Sheridan.  George is survived by his loving wife of 54 years Doris Pierce Scheufele and son George Edward Scheufele III, brother in-law Richard V. Sheridan, nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great niece.  He attended Franklin and Marshall College earning his degree while being a starting forward for the soccer team.  In 1953, the undefeated F&M soccer team won the NCAA national title and in 2002 he and his teammates were inducted into the Franklin and Marshal sports hall of fame.  After college George served his country for 30 years in the United States Navy, multiple postings including Communications Officer, Navigator and Commanding Officer Naval Training Centers in Roanoke Va and Orlando Fl.  Though physically separated from Philadelphia, the City of Brotherly was never far from his heart, especially their sports teams.  In his retirement George active member in his church St Peter's The Fisherman, avid reader and masterful husband to Doris and adopted father to five golden retrievers.
