Obituary

George Frazier Vail was born August 13, 1927 and went home to his Lord on May 29, 2026 at the age of 98.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 72 years, Linda Falls Vail, who passed away this past December.

He is survived by his two daughters, Lauren Elaine Thombleson (husband Rick) and Mary Courtney Edmiston (husband Don), four grandchildren: Greg Giraulo, Katie Giraulo, Jim Edmiston, and Zach Thombleson. Also, three great grandchildren: Chloe, Piper, and Jackson Giraulo.

George grew up in Birmingham, Alabama. After high school he joined the Navy and served for over a year, near the end of WWII. He then returned to Birmingham and attended Auburn University (War Eagle) where he earned his BS degree. Years later, after he and Linda moved to Oviedo in 1968, he studied at Stetson University and earned an MBA.

He moved to Orlando in 1952 where he met and married Linda, the love of his life. He worked and retired from Graybar Electric after 25 years. He then worked as a manufacturer’s rep and then as a Vice President for an engineering firm for the following 15 years. He then decided to ‘take it easy’ and drive a boat for the Winter Park Boat Tours for 10 years, where he enjoyed meeting people and being on the water. He loved boating.

George loved the Lord and his church life at a Methodist church in Pine Hills and then at First Methodist Oviedo where he and Linda made many lifelong friends. He served in many positions with the church and also with the local Gideons chapter, where he served as Treasurer for many years.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Methodist Church of Oviedo or the Lutheran Haven Benevolent Fund.
