George Perry York Jr.'s Obituary

George Perry York Jr., born June 30, 1944, in Connersville, Indiana, to George and Flossie York, passed away on April 3, 2026 in Cape Coral, Florida.

George proudly served his country in the United States Navy, where he attended Hospital Corps School and trained as a Respiratory Therapist. Following his military service, he dedicated over 40 years to his profession, providing compassionate care to patients in Greenville, Ohio, and Lehigh Acres, Florida.

Beyond his career, George found his greatest joy in time spent with family and friends. He especially enjoyed lively games of euchre, where his playful sense of humor and love of laughter made every gathering more memorable.

George is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Charleen York; his son, Craig Bauer; and his daughters, Christina Bryant, Jody (Rob) Brickler, Amy (Andy) Baugher, and Sheri (James) York. He was a proud grandfather to Logan Petry, Destinee Macaulay, Courtnee Myers, Ava, Stella, and Maggie Baugher, Justin and Riley McIntire, and Brooke and Brittany Brickler. He also leaves behind a special nephew, Donald (Keri) Sims III, along with many cherished nieces, nephews, and great-grandchildren. He is survived by his sister, Deanna Hensley.

George was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Betty (Don) Sims, Joyce (Larry) Gard, Iva (Hafey) Riebsomer, and Helen (Bob) Williams; his brothers, Robert “Ronnie” (Pauletta) York, Russell “Buck” York, Harold “Tony” York, and Charles “Bill” (Evelyn) York; his nephew, Michael “Mikey” Sims; and his daughter-in-law, Andrea Mobley-Bauer.

A celebration of George’s life will be held at a later date, where family and friends will gather to honor his memory.
