Obituary

Georgina (Gina) Rose Addison Haigh, 80, of Flagler Beach, FL, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 2, 2026. Gina was born in Dearborn, MI on July 25, 1946, to Edwin and Iris Addison. She moved to Florida in the early 1970s, where she raised her children. Gina was actively involved in her children's school and sporting events. Gina enjoyed traveling, reading, history, crafting, making flower arrangements, and countless trips to Florida's Theme Parks with her family.

In the late 1980’s Gina started her career as an Activity Professional in the Ormond Beach Area. Her passion for the elderly grew as she joined the Florida Healthcare Association in 1993 and was subsequently elected as regional representative for the Daytona Beach Area. In 1996, she served on the core committee when Florida hosted the National Association of Activity Professionals and served as Secretary in 1997. In 2000, Gina was elected Vice President. In 2007, she received the lifetime achievement award, the same year she chaired the Florida Healthcare “Glass Slipper Society” fundraiser conference in Orlando. In 2009, Gina graduated from the Florida Healthcare leadership program and was elected President of the Florida Healthcare Association. In 2013, she served as the conference's Installing Officer and has served on the committee each year since joining the Association. Aside from her official duties, Gina also served as an educational speaker and an advocate for aromatherapy and sensory stimulation and how it benefited the elderly. She did everything with a smile and a positive attitude, and there wasn’t anything she wouldn’t try; she was full of creativity and style.

Gina is predeceased by her parents, Edwin Addison and Iris Cash; her husband, John Henry Haigh Jr.; and Granddaughter, Morgan Lee Haigh.

Gina is survived by her three children Timothy Haigh, (Christina) Sharpsburg, MD; Todd Haigh (Karen), Ormond Beach, FL; Beth Sowers (Michael), Longwood, FL, and six grandchildren Katherine Taira (Yoshikura), Okinawa, Japan; Victoria Haigh (Tyler), Philadelphia, PA; Ethan Jones (Genophia), Rex, GA; Benjamin Haigh, Sharpsburg, MD, and Addison & Abigail Sowers, Longwood, FL and two great grandchildren, Ryosuke and Yoshihiro and a brother Edwin Addison Jr. (Marcia), Scottsdale, AZ, two sisters Lisa Moss (Joe), Phillips, NE and Tanya Addison O’Brien of Daytona Beach, FL and her beloved cats, Sunshine and Lily as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cherished friends, and former colleagues.
