Gerald A. Galvin, of Summerfield, FL, age 79, passed away May 12 th after a courageous battle with cancer. He leaves behind his adored wife of 59 years, Christel (Oswald) Galvin who he met in Germany while being stationed in the US Army. He also leaves behind three children, Gerald Galvin, Randi Fleck and Kirsten Brann, together with many loving grandchildren. In his younger years he loved speed skating and went with his Father to many races and came home a winner. Jerry was employed by New England Telephone and At & T in Wilmington, Massachusetts where he grew up and continues to have long time friends. He moved to Florida with his wife in 1995 where he enjoyed retirement to the fullest. Jerry was an active member of the German American Social Club of west central Florida and also a member of of the German American friends of Del Webb Spruce Creek in Summerfield, Fl. Jerry and Christel joined the Trinity Lutheran church in Summerfield, Fl. and became members of the Board of Fellowship a position that Jerry especially loved to be involved in. Jerry enjoyed traveling including numerous trips overseas and cruising the Caribbean. He embraced spending time with his family and always greeted everyone with his infectious smile. He will be sadly missed by all who he touched.
A celebration of Life will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Summerfield Fl. one mile south of Hwy 42 on June 4, 2019 at 11:00. In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to Trinity Lutheran church in Jerry's memory.
