Gerald E. Hutchings, 80 passed away peacefully on March 5, 2023 surrounded by his family in the Villages Florida. Son of the late John and Anne (Whalen) Hutchings, he was born on August 2, 1942 in Yonkers, NY. He is survived by his brother Donald Hutchings (Carol) of The Villages, FL. He is predeceased by his beloved wife Margaret (Morley) to whom he was married for 50 years before her passing in 2020.

Gerry graduated from Sacred Heart High School and enlisted in the United States Navy. After his service in the Navy, he worked as a carpenter and later as a technician for the phone company (later AT&T). Gerry spent his career at AT&T rising to the position of Sales Executive before retiring in the early nineteen nineties. Gerry was an avid runner and completed several marathons including the Yonkers marathon and the New York City Marathon.

Always an active member of his community, Gerry served as the Chairman of the Zoning Board of Appeals for the Town of Beekman, NY, where he resided with his family for over 40 years. In 2002, Gerry was proudly elected to the position of Dutchess County Legislator for seven consecutive terms. He served on many legislative committees including Chairing the Public Works and Capital Projects Committee. After his last term in office, Gerry and Margaret moved to The Villages Florida where they enjoyed golf, sunshine, and good friends until their passing.

Gerry was a loving and proud father and grandfather. He is survived by his children John (Stacie) of Middletown, DE, Gerri Ann (Laszlo) of Los Altos Hills, CA, and Patrick (Stephanie) of San Antonio, TX, as well as his grandchildren Paige, Lila, Emily, Mickey, and Annabelle. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday, June 16 2023 at 10 a.m. followed by burial at St. Denis Church in Hopewell Junction, N.Y.
