Obituary

Gerald Eugene Marlowe, 91, passed away February 11, 2021 at Halifax Hospice in Ormond Beach, Florida. He was born in Thorpe, West Virginia in August 1929, the son of Susie and Ted Marlowe. He was predeceased by his son, Derek, both of his parents, and his 4 brothers, Ray, Jimmy, Ted Hartley, and Keith.

After completing high school, Gerald worked for U.S. Steel as a coal plant operator. Leaving that job, he became superintendent of a plant for Crystal Block Coal Company. He was drafted during the Korean War and served 2 years in France. After the service, he completed his B.S. degree at Concord College in Athens, West Virginia. After completion of his degree, he took a teaching position at Canton McKinley High School in Canton, Ohio.

Gerald moved to Florida in 1964 and taught accounting and economics at Daytona Beach Community College. In 1966 he accepted a position with South-Western Publishing Company, Cincinnati, Ohio as their education sales representative in colleges, universities, and community colleges in Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina. He retired in 1994. He loved golfing, RV traveling throughout the U.S. and Canada, cruising, motorcycling, music and dancing, gardening, mechanics, and home repair.

Gerald is survived by his beloved wife, Linda, his son, Chet, and his niece, Carol Nelms. Arrangements are under the care of Baldwin Brothers Memorial Care Services. Services will be private.
