Gerald Allen Travis (1943-2026)
Gerald (Jerry) Allen Travis, age 83, of Leesburg, FL and formerly of Hallstead, PA, entered peacefully into eternal rest, with his family by his side, on June 26, 2026. Jerry was born in Johnson City, NY to the late Laurence Oliver and Vera (Dyer) Travis. After attending Johnson City High School, he served in the US Navy, worked at Binghamton Printing and Binding, married Janice Haskins, worked at the U.S. Post Office in Binghamton, NY for 17 years, and retired after 13 years as Postmaster in Hallstead, PA.
Jerry was a member of the Hallstead-Great Bend Lions Club, American Legion Post 357, Blue Ridge Archery Club, and Bluestone Lodge #338. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, hunting, and shooting pool on the pool league in FL. Jerry’s favorite place to be was at home on the peaceful, country, family property that his father had originally owned. Jerry was a man of integrity who worked hard to provide for his family, whom he loved deeply. He was knowledgeable, logical, and witty and had a peaceful hope in the Lord.
Jerry was predeceased by his first wife of 26 years, Janice (Haskins) Travis; siblings Jeanette (Stan) Moser, Shirley (née Travis) (John) Peck, L. Lowell Travis, and Elaine L’Hommedieu; brother-in-law Fred Robinson, and sister-in-law Patricia Travis.
He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Linda Hilton Travis; his daughters: Tracy (Leland) Weed, Valerie Travis (Tim) Loso, Lori (Deron) Carter; stepdaughters: Stacey (Rick) Lange, Nikki Phillips (Basil Eakin); a brother, Rodney Travis; brothers-in-law: Jesse (Stacie) Hilton Jr., and Richard L’Hommedieu, and sisters-in-law: Wanda Hilton and Deborah Zenzayer; former brothers-in-law: George (Marilyn) Haskins, Lynn (Dawn) Haskins, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Jerry had 8 grandchildren: Cameron, Garrett, Allen, Janna, Sydney, Aidan, Adalynn, and Cash; 2 great grandchildren: Adylene and Waylon, and a beloved Yorkie named Asti.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at Community Methodist Church in Great Bend, PA at a later date.
