Geraldine Linda Sogluizzo, age 75, of Fort Myers, FL passed away on August 18, 2024. Gerri was born on September 13, 1948, in Jersey City, New Jersey to parents Louis and Margaret (Helbig) Sogluizzo. She graduated from Engelwood Hospital School of Nursing in1969, and went on to receive her BSN and MSN from Barry University in Miami, FL. She went to work at Englewood Hospital in New Jersey for a short time, then onto NYU Medical Center in New York for 6 years, and ultimately Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, FL for 35 years. After serving as a Nurse, she went on as a Professor of Med Surg at Kaplin University for 4 years as well as Dade College in Miami as a Professor in OB for 3 years prior to her retirement in 2014.

It's clear that Gerri was passionate about caring for people and helping them during their most difficult times. Among other things, she enjoyed cooking, reading, theatre, swimming and enjoying the beach. She was very active in both her mind and body working sudoku, playing tennis, skiing, bowling, and travelling all over the States, Islands, and Europe. Gerri was an all-around fantastic person who told amusing and humorous stories. Everyone loved to hear about vacation shenanigans, what happened, and who did what from her. She made the very best of her life, living it to the fullest and always made lemonade with the lemons she was given.

She was a member of Sigma Theta Tau, the National Science Nursing Honor Society. An active member of SWFL Society of Retired Nurses, The American Heart Association, as well as the Jackie Gleason and Royal Palms Theatres. She was a faithful Usher and Home Eucharistic Minister for the 7:30 mass at St. Cecilia's Catholic Community as well as a member of the Lunch Bunch; and A Faith and Wine member all over SWFL.

She is survived by her Brother, Fr. Louis P. Sogliuzzo, many Cousins, her longtime friend, Patricia Greco. She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Margaret Sogluizzo.

A Funeral Mass is scheduled for 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 28th at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church, 5632 Sunrise Dr., Fort Myers, FL followed by a lunch and continued fellowship in the Parish Hall. Interment will take place at St. John XXIII Catholic Cemetery on Monday, September 30, 2024, at 10:00 AM.
