Gerard (Gerry) Ekedal, 91, passed away peacefully at The Villages Hospice House, The Villages, FL, on April 9, 2016.  He was born in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, New York, attended Brooklyn Tech, graduated from Boonsboro in Lynchburg, VA and lived in Rockland County, New York for several years before moving to The Villages in 2006.Gerry is survived by his wife, Patricia, 3 stepdaughters, Kathy (Aaron) Burleson, Margaret (Keith) Gurganus, Lisa Wobler, 6 step grandchildren, Anna (Eric), Elliot, Jake (Tiffany), Justin, Mary and Taylor, 2 step great grandchildren, Jameson and Grayson, 2 nieces, Christina (Joe) Hewitt, Sandy (Paul) Geoghegan, 2 grand nieces, Jenny and Sophie and a long-time friend and confidant, Howard Hellman. He was preceded in death by his first wife Mary Ann, parents Ellef and Hilda Ekedal and his sister and brother-in-law, Jack and Helen Peterson. A celebration of life will be held at Hope Lutheran Church, 250 Avenida Los Angelos, The Villages, FL 32162 on Monday, April 18, 2016 at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Villages Hospice House, 601 Casa Bella, The Villages, FL  32162, Hope Lutheran Church, 250 Avenida Los Angelos, The Villages, FL 32162, or to the charity of choice.
