Giselle Medina passed away on January, 31 st , 2023 at 51 years of age. She is survived by her parents Rowena Kaylor, Oscar Medina and her sisters Janine and Camille Medina. Giselle was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico. She grew up in Orlando, Florida and attended Bishop Moore High School. She graduated as an English major from the University of Florida's College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. She started her teaching career in 1994.
Giselle was a passionate teacher who inspired her students with her dedication to teaching, love of writing, reading, literature, and poetry. She was proud of teaching her students to love reading and writing. She taught in Orlando, Gainesville and New York City.
She was a talented poet. Her sense of humor and gift of story- telling entertained everyone at family gatherings. Any place she went was graced by her light, laughter and radiant smile.
As a dedicated runner who enjoyed and competed in running marathons, Giselle belonged to the Orlando Running Club. She was very disciplined and ran daily. She also enjoyed photography and captured the beauty of life with her unique, magical perspective. Her love of horses inspired her to take horseback riding lessons. Music was one of her many loves, and she took ballet and piano lessons. She also enjoyed watching classic movies on the Turner channel.
Her cats were her loving, treasured companions: Stitch, Kiwi, Godiva, Maybelline and Joy. Their sweet love and devotion brought her so much laugher and happiness.
Giselle was devoted to her family and had a passion for life.
Even with life's ongoing struggles and challenges, Giselle found a way to shine her light and ran the race of life as a true champion.
The family is planning a private ceremony. In lieu of flowers the family asks if you can, that you donate to a local cat shelter that will find loving homes for cats such as kindnessforcats.org .
