Think of music, corvettes, and bourbon and you instantly think of Glen Dennis Schmitt (September 1, 1948–September 8, 2026). The son of Glen and Pauline Schmitt, he didn’t remain in his hometown of Quincy, IL but followed the love of his life and his wife, Barbara Dougherty to find adventures in travel and everyday life. He made every day special for anyone he met—his kindness, compassion, and love for people shone through. It didn’t matter if you were homeless or you were wealthy, he made sure you were welcome. His heart was as big as he was.

Glen was proud to have served in the Navy during the Vietnam war. If you sat with him long enough, the Navy stories were bound to be told as you sipped on his favorite bourbon. You may have even heard golfing stories with his favorite songs playing in the background. Regardless, you would have been entertained.

A celebration of life is planned for Moberly, MO at the Bierman Center on November 1, 1–4, with a program at 1:30.
