Obituary

Glenda Delores Meeks Kelly of Apopka, Florida, passed away peacefully on April 29, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, adventure, and an immense love for her family.

Known for her radiant spirit and her “never met a stranger” philosophy, Glenda had a rare gift for making everyone she encountered feel seen, heard, and welcomed. She could strike up a conversation with anyone, anywhere, and would invariably walk away having made a new friend. In those conversations, her favorite subject was always her family. She was their fiercest advocate and greatest fan, proudly sharing their accomplishments and stories with a warmth that made her love unmistakable to all who listened.

Glenda’s strong work ethic and love for people were shaped early in life while growing up in Apopka. She took great pride in her family’s local legacy, as they owned and managed Apopka Wheel & Tire together, building not just a business, but lasting relationships within the community.

Her passion for helping others was most evident through her tireless work in local schools. As a dedicated volunteer, Glenda spent countless hours supporting students and teachers alike. Whether assisting in the classroom or organizing school events, her goal was always the same: to ensure every child felt encouraged, valued, and supported. Her commitment to her community extended to civic service as well. For many years, she faithfully served as a Precinct Clerk, always looking forward to Election Day and the opportunity to contribute.

Glenda was a true explorer at heart. She found her greatest joy in the salt air at the beach and in the steady rhythm of a cruise ship on the open sea. However, her favorite destination was always Walt Disney World. To Glenda, Disney was not just a theme park—it was a place of pure magic that she delighted in sharing with those she loved. She became a joyful guide for friends and family, finding immense happiness in watching others experience the wonder of the parks through her eyes.

At the center of Glenda’s life was her 40-year marriage to her beloved husband, Steve. Their four decades together were a beautiful partnership filled with shared dreams, laughter, and an enduring love that served as the foundation of their family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James Meeks and Annell Kirkland Meeks; and her brothers, Lee “Wayne” Meeks and James “Ronnie” Meeks.

Glenda is survived by her devoted husband, Steve Kelly; her sisters, Pat Hilton (Esmond Hilton) of DeLand, Florida, and Carolyn Doster of Apopka, Florida; and her children: Tracey Powers-DiCapua (Peter DiCapua) of Andalusia, Alabama; Jason Hasty (Michelle Hasty) of DeLand, Florida; and Megan Kelly (Carlos Flores) of Orlando, Florida.

She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Triana Powers (fiancé Tyler Gelfund) of Bloomfield, New Jersey; Gabrielle DiCapua (partner Russ Hause) of St. Petersburg, Florida; Josie DiCapua, Allissa DiCapua, and Maxx DiCapua, all of Andalusia, Alabama; Skylar Hutcheson (Kerwin Hutcheson) of Eustis, Florida; and Octavia Flores of Orlando, Florida.

Her legacy continues through her great-grandchildren: Madilynn Hutcheson and Maverick Hutcheson of Eustis, Florida, and Felix Hause of St. Petersburg, Florida.

She is also lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

Glenda’s life was a testament to the power of kindness, connection, and unconditional love. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
