Gloria Gaye Hunt Hemphill passed away peacefully on May 26, 2023, in Fort Myers, FL at the age of 82. On November 9, 1940, in Greensboro, NC, Nelson E. and Vinnie Lee Hunt welcomed their first child Gloria Gaye.

Gloria Gaye and her 5 siblings were raised in Montgomery County, MD. She was a guiding light to each of them and they shared deep love and affection.

She graduated from Sherwood High School and went on to have a long career as a bookkeeper with both Cushwa and Potomac Valley Brick.

Gloria Gaye married the love of her life and soulmate Ron Hemphill on May 14, 1994. They shared a deeply blessed marriage for 29 years. Ron was an extremely devoted husband and cared for her when she needed him most. She made no secret of how much she loved him.

Gloria Gaye leaves behind her beloved children: Lois Marie (Pat), Chester Paul, Linda Lee (Rich), Karen Renee (Sean), Brian Allen (Laura), Aaron Jason (Katie), and Kelly Anne; grandchildren: Lindsay, Kelly, Michael, Brittney, Scott, Zachary, Kathryn, Erica, Blake, Aidan, Caitlyn, Ian, Kiley, Kelsie and 9 great grandchildren. There was never a day that she didn't smile or brag about them.

She also leaves behind her younger siblings: Dennis Hunt (Linda), Rhonda Browne (Dave), Cheryl LaPierre, Sylvia Gladd (Kevin), Sharon Perry (Daryl) and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Gloria Gaye was beautiful inside and out with a smile that would light up the room. She faced many challenges in her lifetime and handled them all with grace. We celebrate the life that she lived and take comfort in knowing that she is in the arms of Jesus.

A service will be held to celebrate the life of Gloria Gaye.  12:00 pm Saturday, June 10, 2023 Gateway Church
