Gregory (Greg) Patrick Dross passed away peacefully after a long, courageous battle with cancer on Monday, February 17 th , 2020 in Port Orange, Florida, surrounded by his loving wife, Laura, and dear friend, Susan Vermillion
Greg was born in Augusta, Georgia, on February 21, 1959 to David and Ann McCarthy Dross.
Greg was a full-of-life, fun-loving person that got the most out of life. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and just hanging out with his friends at the lake. Living at the lake was a lifelong dream of his that he and Laura accomplished in 2013. He was retired from the Columbia County Parks and Recreation as a supervisor and was formally employed by Columbia County Board of Education. He was also certified as an environmental inspector and had a certification in playground safety. His most recent employment was Dross Specialties which he established with his wife, Laura. In his earlier life, he was an Eagle Scout, and selected as an Ambassador at the Capitol of Georgia while attending Aquinas High School from which he graduated in 1977.
Greg was a skilled craftsman/woodworker and was able to fix/repair many things and always said he could do a lot except heating and air. He always loved having a hobby whether it be remote hobby cars, go-cart racing, or making handmade fishing lures. He was always willing to lend a hand to those in need.
Greg is preceded in death by his parents, David and Ann Dross, his grandparents, Fritz and Ann McCarthy and Leo and Agnes Dross
He is survived by his loving wife and Soulmate, Laura, his son Gregory Patrick (Bailey) Dross, Jr., two grandsons Jackson and Layton Dross his stepson, R. Jeremy (Jenelle) Kirschner, and his beloved dog, Cole. He is also survived by his aunt, Patricia Atha, brother David (Karen) Dross, sister Kate (Randy) Bellman, sister Kim (Bill) Jackson, and Ann Marie (Vance) Clements, Brother-in-law Mike (Mary) Lenz, Sister-in-law Carol (Bill) Ferguson and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, George & Peggy Lenz. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He is also remembered fondly by many friends that were so dear to him.
There will be a Celebration of Life at a later date in Augusta, Georgia
