It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gunter Herbert Grunschel , who was born on May 28, 1939, in Germany, and passed away peacefully at his home in Florida on January 31, 2025, with family present. Gunter had been under hospice care for a short time prior to his passing.

Gunter's life was marked by his service to his adopted country. He served in the U.S. Army and later played a crucial role in recruiting new members to the military, a testament to his enduring commitment and dedication.

He is survived by his loving daughter Jacqueline Appelhans & Son-in-Law Jeff Watkins and his cherished son David Mullen and daughter-in-law, Evie Jo Mullen who cared for him in his final days.  Gunter was also a grandfather and great-grandfather, leaving behind many to carry his legacy forward.

Gunter spent most of his adult life in Rhode Island, where he enjoyed the simple pleasures of coastal living. He found joy in boating and tending to his beautiful rose bushes, passions that spoke to his love for warm weather. He relocated to Florida later in life, where he continued to enjoy beautiful days in the warm sunshine.

Gunter Herbert Grunschel will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him. His life was filled with love, service, and dedication, and his memory will remain in our hearts forever.
