Obituary

Hamer Marvin Lehr 90, of New Smyrna Beach passed away Saturday, September 10, 2011.  He was born on March 15, 1921 in Convoy, Ohio to Hamer McGuinness and LuLu Lehr.  Mr. Lehr and his beloved late wife Eleanor (July 22, 1921 – March 14, 2010) moved to New Smyrna Beach Florida from Syracuse New York in 2003.  As a young man he moved to Syracuse to learn the printing business.  Hamer served his country proudly in WWII as a printer in Italy and North Africa.  After the war he returned to Syracuse and started his printing business; Modern Offset Printing.  He met and married Eleanor Smith in 1947.  Hamer and Eleanor retired from the printing business in 1983.  Hamer was a 32nd degree Mason, a devout Methodist who loved the Lord.  By far his favorite book of the bible was Ecclesiastes.  He is survived by his two sons, Hamer (Marty) Lehr of New Smyrna Beach and Lawrence (Larry) Lehr of San Diego, California; four grandchildren, Alex, Jonathan, Wayne and Elise Lehr.  Hamer will be remembered as a wonderful Dad, husband and friend.  He was not a man of trivial facts and book knowledge. He enjoyed watching Jeopardy and was amazed at how smart the contestants were, though rarely knowing any of the answers himself.  What Hamer did know was the importance of a handshake when a man gave his word, that a sincere smile, a pat on the back, and the words "please" and "Thank you" were really all anyone needed to be successful in this world.  We love you Dad.  You will be missed.  Be sure to give our love to Mom!   A Life Celebration will be held by the family at a later date.
