Hans Bednarz, 85, passed away peacefully on July 12, 2023 at Cates House Hospice of Marion County, Florida.

Hans was born on March 17th 1938 in Muenster, Germany to Johannes Georg Bednarz and his wife Minna Lina "Friedel" Bokeloh. Hans's journey took him across continents, as he proudly served in the United States Army until he was honorably discharged in October 1967.

Hans was predeceased by his parents and two sisters Annelore VonTempelhof and Trudy Horn. He leaves behind his spouse Cindy Bednarz (Schroeder) of Wrightstown, NJ; two children Marion Murphy (James) of Massapequa, NY and Glen Bednarz (Lara) of Virginia Beach, VA,  four grandchildren Tyler and Timothy Bednarz both of Virginia Beach, VA and Gillian and James Murphy of Massapequa, NY, as well as a great-granddaughter, Amelia. Being a grandfather brought immense pride to Hans's life.

His niece, Karen Whitehead of CT, made frequent trips to Florida to visit and care for Hans, and had been with him just prior to his passing. Hans had a wide circle of extended family members including his cousin Helga Hans formerly from Oelde, Germany. He left behind many nieces and nephews, who held a special place in his heart.

Hans will be greatly missed by: his Bingo partner and friend Florence "Flo" and her family who shared many holidays and birthdays with him, his neighbor John, and his friends Bob, Ken, and Kathy who helped him in so many ways.
