Harold R. Barnes
May 7, 1937 – July 21, 2025
Harold Royce Barnes "Hal", 88, of Punta Gorda Florida passed away at home Monday July 21, 2025, after a brief illness.
He was born in Mishawaka, Indiana to the late Clarissa E. (Hutchins) and Grover C. Barnes. Along with his parents Harold was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Barnes; a son Harold R. Barnes Jr.; a daughter, Linda Thompson, and grandchildren, Stephanie Shupe and Mason Wold.
Harold is survived by his wife of 46 years, Anne (Bishop) Barnes, their children, Angela (Kris) Biagioli, Amy (Brad) Hester and Andrea Barnes all of Florida. He is also survived by children, Carolyn (Donna) McGee of Georgia, Christie (Rob) Valdez, Diane (Nathan) Rhodes of Mishawaka, IN; 16 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; siblings, Ronald (Linda) Barnes of Exton, PA and Barbara (Ken) Slack of Granger, IN; a sister-in-law, Nola Barnes of Osceola, IN.
Harold graduated from Mishawaka High School in 1955, after which he served his country in the United States Navy. During his life in Mishawaka, he made a successful living managing local car dealerships where he became known as "Mr. F & I". After moving to Florida, Harold drove a school bus and dedicated many years as a passionate volunteer for the Special Olympics. He was an avid NASCAR and Notre Dame football fan, often he enjoyed cooking on the grill, and loved spending time admiring the outdoors while bird watching.
Harold was a born again Christian and is now rejoicing in the presence of God, where we, as his family, find comfort knowing he is reunited with his lost loved ones.
Family and friends are invited to Celebrate the Life of Harold R. Barnes, on August 16″, 2025 at 1:00PM at the American Legion Post 308, 122 Lincolnway East, Osceola, IN.
