Harold Lee
Butler Jr.
Sep 11, 1954 — Jul 11, 2026
Harold Lee Butler Jr., 71, passed away peacefully on July 11, 2026.
Harold was born on September 11, 1954, in Dayton, Ohio, to Harold Lee Butler Sr. and Edith Lucille Butler. He spent his childhood surrounded by family, making cherished memories during summers in Canada with his father and cousins, enjoying time at the family lake house, and growing up alongside his beloved sister, Vicki. Later, the Butler family relocated to Ocala, Florida, where Harold would reside for more than 40 years.
Harold’s next chapter in life was one of family. In 1984, he married his first wife and proudly adopted his first child, Jason. In 1988, Harold and Tami welcomed their daughter, Britney, completing their family.
A dedicated and hardworking man, Harold began his career at E-ONE on May 29, 1979. Through nearly four decades of commitment and perseverance, he built a career spanning 39 years before retiring in 2017.
Harold later married Christy Lee Butler, who preceded him in death. They shared 21 years of marriage built on friendship, companionship, and a love of family. Christy brought her son, Christopher, into the marriage, and Harold proudly embraced him as his own, completing his family of three children. Together, Harold and Christy enjoyed camping, frequent trips to the beach, spending time outdoors, caring for animals, and creating lasting memories with family.
Harold found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He loved sharing a laugh, enjoying a drink with friends, or sitting down to talk with anyone about just about anything. He was a man who taught more by the way he lived than by the words he spoke. His life reflected hard work, perseverance, kindness, and a deep appreciation for the people around him.
In his later years, Harold divided his time between Ocala and Tampa, Florida, often spending weekends with his sister, brother-in-law, mother, and neighborhood friends. Whether relaxing by the pool, enjoying the beach, or simply spending time with those he loved, he made the most of every moment.Above all else, Harold was simply a good man, and those who knew him are better for having shared part of life’s journey with him.
Harold is survived by his loving mother, Lucille Butler; his sister, Vicki Hamaker, and brother-in-law, Paul Hamaker; his daughter, Britney Butler; his sons, Jason Butler and Christopher DeFrancis; as well as many cherished cousins, extended family members, and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Christy Lee Butler.
In accordance with Harold’s wishes, no public services are planned. Memorialization will be by cremation.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor Harold’s memory by spending time with those you love, sharing a meal, making a phone call, or simply telling someone what they mean to you. Those wishing to honor Harold’s memory may also make a donation to Empath Hospice of Marion County in recognition of the compassion they provided during his final day.
