April 27, 1941 – October 2, 2021
Harold A. (Hal) Dixon passed away peacefully at the Halifax Health Hospice Care Center in Port Orange, Fl. on October 2, 2021 from UN-diagnosed (until the end) metastatic colon cancer at the age of 80. He will forever be remembered for his larger than life personality and a sense of humor that he never lost. If he made fun of you, he liked you!
Hal is survived by his wife Linda Morse Dixon of Port Orange and his son Seamus (Jamie) Dixon who resides in Greenville, SC. He is also survived by nephews William Dixon (Betty), James Dixon (Pamela) and niece Barbara Woodsome (Don). He is also survived by sister-in-law Jill Lux (Clancy) and brother-in-law Richard Morse (Kathy) and many Great nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Colleen Dixon, his sister Margaret Parker, brother William Dixon, niece Mary Dixon and nephews Richard Dixon and John Dixon.
Hal was born on April 27, 1941 in Lynn, Massachusetts, to parents Ellen Halley Dixon and William H. Dixon.
He graduated from St. Mary's Boys High School in Lynn, attended Bentley College in Boston and Merrimack College in Andover.
Hal moved to Syracuse, NY in 1968 where he met Linda and they married in 1972.
In his spare time….Hal was the Promoter for Brewerton Speedway when Archie Green owned and operated the track in Brewerton, NY. Hal dedicated his career to non profit working for many years at PEACE, INC in Syracuse as the Comptroller, Elmcrest Children's Center and Catholic Charities. Hal ended his career in Daytona at The ARC as Controller and Interim Executive Director. He continued to do accounting and tax work from home. And he loved to play golf with his many friends in Florida and NY. He was so happy that he got to spend time in Brewerton this past summer with friends. Sadly, he knew it was his last.
Hal was a member and past president of Port Orange Eagles Aerie 4089 and belonged to Sons of the American Legion Post 361.
There will be a Memorial/Celebration of Life for Hal at The Port Orange Eagles, 5130 S. Ridgewood Ave. at 1 o'clock pm on October 30th.
