IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Harriet
Kaplan
November 23, 1946 – June 18, 2025
Our dear, sweet, caring, loving beautiful Harriet Judith Ginsburg Adelson Kaplan was suddenly taken to her eternal rest on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, and was laid to rest on June 23, 2025. Harriet is interned at Temple Israel Cemetery in Gotha, Florida.
Harriet had a full heart-warming life. Anyone who ever met Harriet truly loved her for her kindness, intelligence, and caring demeanor. She was born to loving parents Yetta and Jacob Ginsburg on November 23, 1946, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Waiting at home was her older brother, Daniel Ginsburg.
Harriet attended Northeast High School and then graduated from Temple University. She taught in the Philadelphia School System and was truly adored by her students. She later changed careers and worked for over 30 years as the clinical and research director of a nationally renowned fertility practice.
Harriet married her high school sweetheart, Richard Adelson, on July 8, 1966. Together they bore two wonderful children, Gregg Adelson and Abbye (Adelson) Alexander. Richard passed away suddenly at the young age of 39.
Harriet was a widow for 10 years, raising her children and pursuing her career. During her work with Jerome Check and the Cooper Institute for In Vitro Fertilization, Harriet followed her passion and her unyielding dedication and love to bring new life into the world for countless thousands of couples.
In December of 1995, at the age of 49, she met the man who would bring joy and unequivocal love to her, Larry Kaplan. They were married on August 18, 1996. For the next 29 years, they were inseparable and enjoyed each other's company. During this time, Harriet and Larry were blessed with 4 beautiful grandchildren. They retired in 2007 and moved to Lake Nona (Orlando), Florida, and truly enjoyed their retirement.
Harriet is survived by her loving husband Larry Kaplan, her son Gregg Adelson, daughter-in-law Christine Adelson, daughter Abbye Alexander and son-in-law, Andy Alexander and grandchildren Robert Adelson, Joseph Adelson, Remi Alexander and Rorie Alexander. All truly loved and adored her.
In the event that anyone would like to honor Harriet, the family requests to honor her memory by helping to plant trees in Israel. This can be done by visiting: shop.JNF.org.
