IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Harry
Franklin
July 10, 1926 – April 1, 2025
Harry Paul Franklin, 98, of The Villages, Florida, and formerly of Dunkirk, New York, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, April 1, 2025.
Born on July 10, 1926, in Dunkirk, Harry was the son of Anton and Jozefa Franckiewicz. A proud Navy veteran, he enlisted at just 17 years old to serve in World War II. Upon returning home, he met and married his wife, Patricia, in 1948. Together, they raised three children: Gary, June, and Michael. They eventually retired to Florida in 1987.
Harry never met a stranger. He could strike up a conversation with anyone and was well known for his warmth, humor, and—especially in his later years—the way he would spontaneously break out into song and dance. Even into his late 90s, he lived with energy, joy, and a devious twinkle in his eye. A lifelong jokester, it's no surprise to any of us that he passed away on April Fools' Day.
He was a member of St. Timothy's Catholic Church in Lady Lake, Florida, and previously of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Dunkirk. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia, as well as his three brothers and four sisters.
Harry is survived by his children: Gary (Diane) Franklin, June (Paul) Taylor, and Michael (Deborah) Franklin; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A private interment will be held for immediate family. A celebration of Harry's life is being planned and will take place in The Villages in the coming weeks.
