Obituary

Henry William Sigtermans  89, of Cape Coral, Florida, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday April 30, 2025.

He was born in Dordrecht, The Netherlands, on February 13, 1936, to Willem Sigtermans and Geertje Lanser. Henk, as he was called in Holland, grew up during WWII during the German occupation.  When he was 16, he started sailing as a steward for the Holland American Line followed by the United States Line until 1962 and became a US citizen in 1966. He settled in New Jersey with his first wife Elisabeth and had three sons. During these years he managed numerous restaurants and ultimately became General Manager of various private Golf and Country Clubs in NY and NJ. He was a member of The Club Managers Association of America (CMAA) for many years. In 1990 he married Nancy Alineri and a year later they moved to Florida and bought a house on a canal in Cape Coral and never left. Henry transformed the property into a veritable botanical garden and built an aviary, which for many years had over 70 birds of various kinds. Boating, beaches, and travelling all over the world (6 continents) were some of the things they loved doing together. They were soul mates in the deepest sense of the word.

Henry is survived by his adoring wife of 34 years Nancy, his son Jeffrey (Janet) of Yulee FL, his grandchildren Justin of Jacksonville FL, Emily of Philadelphia, and Erik of Absecon NJ, his sister Yvonne Verwey of Dordrecht NL, his cousin André (Alice) of Papendrecht NL, his stepdaughter Janette McGilligan of Fort Myers and stepson James McGilligan of Fairlawn NJ. He is predeceased by his sons Randolf (2011) and Ronald (2019), and his brother Frits (1994).

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday May 31, 2025, from 1-4pm at the Westin Cape Coral Resort at Marina Village.
