Obituary

Henry James Skane, Jr.            July 1, 1946 – June 18, 2023

Henry (Jim) Skane passed away on June 18, 2023, at the age of 76 at the Cornerstone Hospice House in The Villages, Florida. Jim was born in Melrose, Massachusetts to the late Henry James Skane, Sr. and Patricia Ann (Legg) Skane.

Jim attended New Hampton Prep School and graduated from the University of New Hampshire with a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.  Jim worked for Raytheon in Massachusetts as an engineer and later joined Fairchild Semiconductor as a sales engineer where he met his beloved wife of 39 years, Barbara Moss-Skane.  Jim spent many years in the semiconductor industry and was a partner in manufacturing representative firm specializing in advanced technology products in New Hampshire. Jim also worked for the US Postal Service as a mail carrier before retiring and moving to The Villages in 2011.

Jim was an avid golfer and received his first set of clubs from a golfer he was caddying for at a young age. A lover of sports, Jim was a Little League coach who always made sure that everyone was able to play.  Jim also refereed for the Youth Hockey league and was quite an accomplished skater.

Jim enjoyed working in his Villages courtyard and took pride in the property.  His favorite saying was "What a place we live." Jim also enjoyed woodworking and created several pieces of his own furniture. A great cook, Jim enjoyed grilling outside on the patio.  He also loved his onion rings and always had to try them at most all the restaurants.

Jim dearly loved his Beagles and two Amazon parrots.

Cherished by all who knew him for his kindness, happy nature, quick wit and intelligence, Jim will be deeply missed by his wife Barbara; his younger sister, Barbara Skane; his sister-in-law Dorothy Donahue and nephew Jake Donahue.

A Celebration of Life will be planned for a later date.  Arrangements entrusted with BALDWIN BROTHERS Funeral & Cremation Society-Spanish Springs, 352-430-1449.  Sentiments are encouraged at www.baldwincremation.com .
