Obituary

Herbert Dale Briscoe, 76, passed away peacefully at his home on April 18, 2024 under Hospice care. He was born January 15, 1948, in Altus, OK to Herbert Ray Briscoe and Voncille May (Pollard) Briscoe.  He was preceded in death by sisters, Jeanetta Sue (Briscoe) Murray, Anita Jane (Briscoe) Nilson. His sister Katrin Luanne Briscoe lives in Idaho.

He was raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma and attended Will Rogers High School, class of 1966, member of the football team and the marching band. He enrolled at the University of Oklahoma and majored in architecture then interrupted his education to enlist in the US Coast Guard. He served four years in the Coast Guard, achieving honorable discharge with rank of Aviation Structural Mechanic Second Class.  In 1971, he enrolled at the University of Tulsa and completed a BA in political science and religion in 1973. He then reenlisted in the Coast Guard serving an additional seven years and was honorably discharged in 1981 with rank of Aviation Electronics Technician First Class.

After being discharged from the Coast Guard he relocated to Massachusetts where he worked in the technology industry.  In 1991, he relocated to Jensen Beach, FL continuing to work in the technology industry in various capacities. In 1998, he married the love of his life, Sharon Lynn McMaster and moved to Port St. Lucie, FL. Shortly thereafter, he began working for the St Lucie County School Board as a Network Systems Analyst where he enjoyed over a decade of service until retiring in 2013. Dale and Sharon then moved to The Villages, FL where they enjoyed their life together playing golf, traveling, and enjoying time spent with their many friends.

He is survived by his wife Sharon, sons Nathaniel Briscoe (Jill) and Adam Hensel-Briscoe (Eric), and their mother Cheryl Lee Briscoe. He also has two stepchildren Robert Alan McMaster (Maureen), Cynthia Marie Castillo and 12 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.  He is also preceded in death by his son Herbert Dale Briscoe Jr. (mother Linda Darlene Radcliffe).

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Kidney Fund.

He will be interred at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL on May 31, 2024 at 11:00 in honor of his military service.  There will be a Celebration of Life at a later date.  Arrangements entrusted with BALDWIN BROTHERS Funeral & Cremation Society-Spanish Springs, 352-430-1449.  Sentiments are encouraged at www.baldwincremation.com .
