Howard "Howie" Elwyn Close, age 89, passed away on July 1st, 2023, after a long illness which he fought courageously. Born in Monroe, Michigan on September 8, 1933, he moved to Palmetto, Florida in 2000. After leaving Palmetto, he moved to Wildwood, Florida and lived with his devoted wife, Alice.

Predeceased in death by his parents, Charles & Gertrude, his first wife, Eunice, daughter, Karen, brothers, Jack, Karl, sisters, Elsie & Rea. He is survived by his loving wife, Alice, his sons, Don, David (Carol) born to him & his first wife, Eunice. He is also survived by his stepchildren, Roy (Evelyn), Rhonda, Ray (Sherrie), Renee (James), & Diane. Howard had many grandchildren & great grandchildren.

He owned & operated a farm in Michigan, until his move to Florida. He worked at Nortel, then worked at Palmetto Convention Center until the age of 75. He was a lifetime member of the Masonic Lounge 125 of Michigan. Howard was a kind & thoughtful person and loved by many who knew him.

Funeral Services for Howard will be held at Baldwin Brothers Funeral & Cremation Society- Brownwood location, 3990 E. SR 44, Suite 105, Wildwood, FL 34785 on Wednesday, July 12, 2023, at 1:00PM. A viewing is scheduled from the hours of 11:00AM- 1:00PM. After services conclude at the funeral home, a Celebration of Life for Howard will be held at Parkwood Manor Community Center.
