HOWARD ARTHUR LADD

1918 – 2017

Howard Arthur Ladd was taken into the arms of the Lord on May 31st, 2017.  Howard, a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, was born on February 10, 1918 in Amity Township, Erie County, Pennsylvania.  He is survived by Louise Triscuit Ladd, his loving wife of more than 76 years; two daughters – Bonnie Aquino (Pat) of The Villages, Florida and Sally Ladd of Silver Spring, Maryland; two grandchildren – Angela Koelsch (Bernie) of Silver Spring, MD and Paschal Aquino III of Orlando, FL; four great-grandchildren – Madeline and Marisa of Orlando, FL and Josephine and Sophia of Silver Spring, MD.  He is also survived by a brother – Lyle Ladd, and two sisters – Dorothy Watrous and Eleanor McIntyre- all of Corry, PA.

A longtime member of the International Association of Machinists and Aero Space Workers, Howard built components for aircraft engines during World War II while working at Aero Supply Manufacturing Company in Corry, PA.  He retired from the General Electric Company in Erie, PA in 1985.  Subsequent to that Howard worked at the Corry Auto Dealers Exchange until 2010.

Howard was a member of the United Methodist Church of Elgin, PA for over 80 years, serving in several leadership positions.  Examples of his civic mindedness are being a founding member of the Elgin-Beaverdam Volunteer Hose Company, serving on the Corry Area School Board for over twenty years, and acting as a Judge of Elections for several years.  Memorials may be sent to The United Methodist Church of Elgin, PO Box 4, Elgin, PA 16413, or to The Cornerstone Hospice and Palliative Care Foundation, 2445 Lane Park Rd, Tavares, FL, 32778-9648.
