Howard E. Smith, known affectionately to many as Howie of Dunnellon, Florida, was called home on February 19, 2026.

He was born in Detroit, Michigan on September 18, 1955, to the late Howard E. and Barbra A. Smith. Howie lived a long life grounded in family, hard work and integrity. A proud graduate of Central Michigan University he earned his degree in finance serving Ford Motor Company for over 30 years, retiring in 2010. In 1983, he married the love of his life, Theresa A. Smith. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with laughter, love, and warmth, raising two children. Their marriage of 43 years was a testament to their enduring love and commitment to each other.

Howard is survived by his loving wife Therea A. Smith, daughter Logan A. Smith, son Joseph E. Smith and loving grandchildren Lillyann B. Pfund, Chandler J. Smith, and Barron H. Smith. He is preceded in death by {his parents Howard and Barbra Smith and sister Marie R. Smith}. While Howard’s journey on this earth may have ended, his spirit will live on in the hearts of those who loved him. May he rest in peace, wrapped in the love and memories of a life well-lived.
