Obituary

Howard Linwood Stevens passed away on June 14,2026 in Ormond Beach, FL.

Howie was born in Hartford, CT in 1935. He attended Hartford High and graduated from University of Hartford. He married Margaret Covil in 1955, and they went on to have five children, Margie, Howard, Sue, Sandy and Robert. Howie started his career at General Electric in Syracuse and retired with Lockheed Martin after almost 40 years of employment as a Field Service Engineer. He was also a member of the Army National Guard for three years.

In 1986 he met and married Nancy Howard and they remained married until his death. Howie was active with Habitat for Humanity in his early years of retirement. Later he devoted most of his spare time to his love of trolley cars. Building HO scale Models of the Connecticut Company trolleys and amassing a tremendous collection of items and books from Connecticut Company. He won several awards for his meticulous scratch modeling. Howie took over leadership of the Central Florida Electric Railway Clubs and was active for many years. He loved the annual meet and setting up his layout there and seeing all the other layouts. He enjoyed all the trolley talk among his fellow trolley members and the sharing of knowledge. He always said that when a member passed away a library closed. Howie’s library has closed its doors.

Howie was an only child. He leaves behind a multitude of grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great-grandchildren as well as his beloved wife Nancy and his five children. A Celebration of Life will be held at his home in August.
