Obituary

Ima Jean (Sines) Thompson, age 88, of Winter Park, Florida, passed away on Saturday, June 29, 2024 at home. She was born December 20, 1935 in Taylor County, West Virginia, the daughter of Raymond Landis Sines and Mabel Virginia (Eskew) Sines.

Ima was a caring wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved music and art and enjoyed singing and painting. Ima briefly studied music at Alderson Broaddus University in Philippi, West Virginia before relocating to Perry, Ohio to join her family. She married her high school beau, Donald L. Thompson, in Perry, Ohio on March 29, 1956. Ima and Don spent the first few years of their marriage stationed in Florida, Bermuda, and North Carolina while Don served in the U.S. Air Force.  After settling back in Ohio, in addition to raising 4 children, Ima was active in local church choirs and taught Sunday school. She was always busy putting her creativity to work in refinishing furniture, gardening, or remodeling their century home in Madison, Ohio. She also attended Lakeland Community College and studied accounting after which she had a career in business operations at the former Quail Hollow Resort in Concord, Ohio.  After Ima and Don retired, they moved to Florida and enjoyed traveling, visiting the beach, and spending time with family and friends.  Ima was a loving and fun grandmother and great-grandmother who was always willing to spend the day playing games, baking, crafting, reading, and sharing joy with the grandchildren.

She is survived by daughters Cheryl (David) Loft, Lori McKenna and Jennifer Thompson; son, Donald Thompson; 9 grandchildren, Christopher Loft, Meghan Warin and Sarah Loft; Katie, Brynn, Maren and Maggie McKenna; and Kyra and Devin Pallotta; and 4 great-grandchildren.
