IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ingrid
Hellgren
April 26, 1958 – January 6, 2024
Ingrid Elizabeth Hellgren of Port Charlotte passed away suddenly on January 6, 2024 leaving a void in the hearts of many. She entered this world on April 26, 1958 in Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania where she spent the first 19 years of her life. She was the youngest child of the late Tage and Beryl Hellgren.
She is survived by her partner, Chuck Trites of Port Charlotte; her children, Carmine P. Crudele (Jennifer) of Plantation FL and Britt A. Crudele (Tyler Auner) of Tamarac FL; her sisters, Tonie Y. Waters of Inverness FL and Janne Hellgren (Jack Boesen) of Marion MA, and her brother, Peter B. Hellgren of Stroudsburg PA. She was predeceased by her Sister, Christa R. Hellgren.
In Port Charlotte, where she lived from 2017, Ingrid was a member of the Moose and the Elks. Residents of Charlotte County may remember her from The Bean Cafe in Punta Gorda where she was a barista and from Charlie's Shoe Repair on the Tamiami Trail. Ingrid loved music, having learned to play several instruments and performing with her high school band. She was a regular at several establishments with live music where she supported the local musicians and enjoyed the company of friends. From Plantation Ingrid moved to Ft Myers Beach, which became her favorite place. She worked for the Anchor Inn and enjoyed the island community vibes, but a new opportunity had her moving to California, where she sustained a major injury and soon returned to the east coast for her own care and to help her mother. After a few years, life intervened again prompting a return to Florida in her newly acquired Winnebago. She spent a short time in Inverness before settling in Port Charlotte. One of her favorite things was to help Buzzy, the owner of Charlie's Shoe, by using money donated by his customers to shop for and deliver food to The Homeless Coalition. Food insecurity and homelessness troubled her, especially when children and veterans were affected. Her pets included a raccoon, squirrel, snakes, spiders, hamsters, house cats, and her beloved dogs: a Great Dane, English Bulldog, Golden Lab, and Jack Russell Terrier(Houligan) with a larger-than-life personality. She and Chuck recently rescued a feral cat, Brave Dog and adopted a puppy, Gizmo.
Ingrid also leaves behind her best friend Nadine Mackes and husband Jeff of Kunkletown PA. and maternal cousins, Kenneth and Michael Grieve and Kat Gray and their families in Michigan; and her paternal uncle Ebbe Hellgren and cousins Jorgen and Ariel Hellgren and their families in Sweden.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to a charity of your choice is appreciated, especially for animals, children, and veterans.
