Obituary

James "Gary" Castle, age 77, died of coronary heart failure on January 22, 2025 in his hometown of Orlando, FL.

Gary is survived by his wife Linda; his nieces Kim Ingram of Live Oak, FL, Bonnie Holmes and Becky Gardner of Taylors, SC, Gary Ingram and Bill Bergin of Belle Isle, FL, Drew Ingram and seven great nieces and nephews. Gary was also very close to Linda's large family and spent much time with them over the years. He is preceded in death by his parents Lloyd and Jeanette Castle, sister Beverly Parker, sister Joan Holmes and great niece Kristina Durham.

Gary was born on June 8, 1947, in Decatur, IL to parents Lloyd and Jeanette Castle. The family moved from Bloomington, IL to Orlando in 1950. After graduating from Edgewater High School and Orlando Junior College, he graduated in the charter class of Florida Technological University (UCF) in 1972 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science/Public Administration.. He also was Honorably Discharged from the US Army Reserves in the same year. After one year at Stetson Law School, he began a career in Planning and Urban Development.and later in Commercial Real Estate. He served as the Broker of Record for Lockheed Martin for 34 years and was very instrumental in putting their mark on Southwest Orlando, including Orlando Central Park, International Drive and other developments by Lockheed. In addition to being involved in many local and national Real Estate associations, he also was a lifetime member of the Orlando Chamber of Commerce, president of the Central Florida Safety Council, a member of the Economic Development Commision of Mid Florida and Park Lake Presbyterian Church.

He married Linda Dennison on April 13, 1985. He was a social, active man who was deeply involved in his profession, community and church for the majority of his life. He enjoyed boating, amateur photography, exploring the mountains and watching TV westerns. His family and friends will always remember him as a "stand up guy!"

A Memorial Service is scheduled for 2:00 pm on February 15, 2025 at Park Lake Presbyterian Church with a reception to follow at the church. Doctors Daniel and Helen DeBevoise will officiate the service. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Gary's life.

Park Lake Presbyterian Church is celebrating its 100th Anniversary this year. Donations to the Building Fund would be very special for Gary.
