Jack P.
Deutschman
August 28, 1929 – May 12, 2019
Jack Paul Deutschman, 89, of Inverness, Florida, passed from this life on Sunday, May 12, 2019 at Citrus Memorial Hospital in Inverness. Born on August 28, 1929 in Crystal Lake, Illinois, a son of the late Fred P. and Nellie (Rossman)Deutschman. On December 4, 1949, Jack married the love of his life, Betsy Delores Hodgson in a small ceremony at home. They were married 64 years and had 6 children. They resided in Cary, Illinois, spent two years in Arizona, then moved to Bradenton, Florida in 1968. During the 1980's, they began to spend their summers in Sapphire, North Carolina, and their winters in Florida. Dad was hard-working and dedicated. He was a jack-of-all-trades having worked in many various jobs throughout his lifetime. His most notable jobs were those of Municipal Water Service delivery for the city of Flagstaff, Arizona in the early 1950's, cement truck driver for Singletary Concrete for 14 years, and as a concrete mason for Watson and Dodge Concrete & Masonry, Inc. In later years and until his retirement, he had his own concrete business, snow plowing service and handyman/construction business. Despite his many responsibilities, he always made time for family and his passions. Dad's hobbies and interests helped define who he was. He enjoyed friend and family camping trips, fishing, and shooting pool. He also loved to travel, having spent time in Alaska, Hawaii, France, and many U.S. destinations. He loved living in the Blue Ridge mountains of North Carolina and enjoyed making homemade wine from the grapes he grew in his garden. He was always busy working on one project or another and was available to help others and offer advice when asked. Jack was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Betsy of 64 years, a son, Paul, a daughter, Linda, parents Fred P. Deutschman and Nellie (Rossman) Deutschman, and by all 6 of his brothers, Harold E. Deutschman, Lester Deutschman, Elmer Deutschman, Donny Deutschman, Gordon H. Deutschman, and Fred "Beebe" Deutschman, and his sister, Evelyn Ware. He is survived by his children, Nancy L. Watson (Wallace), Judy A. Clevenger (William), Patty N. Bales, and Dolly L. Rogers; and his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, his many nieces and nephews, as well as many friends and extended family members who will miss him dearly. We find comfort in knowing that Dad's legacy lives on through the lessons he taught us, the memories we had as children growing up, and the times we got to spend with him throughout the years. We will cherish those memories forever. He will be truly missed and remembered always.
