Obituary

Jack "Skip" Lombardi Sr., a beloved figure in Punta Gorda, Florida, for the past 15 years, passed away peacefully on March 28, 2024. His wit, integrity, and kindness left an indelible mark over his 82 years. Born to Francis and Fran Lombardi in Evanston, IL, Jack's early years were spent amidst the bustling streets of Grand & Ogden and Wrigleyville in Chicago, alongside his seven siblings: Pete, Joseph, Carol, Sue, John, Jimmy, and Frank Jr. Jack's industrious spirit emerged early, starting at Thomas Molding Brick Company and progressing to a distinguished career. He was a steadfast member of the 731 Teamsters, rose through the ranks in management at Latronica & Son Excavating, and served as a revered Superintendent at National Wrecking Co. for over a quarter-century. Jack capped his professional journey at Brandenburg Industrial Services, Inc., retiring at 62. His work ethic was unparalleled, guided by the principle: "Give me 8 for 8, and I will always stand up for you." This motto encapsulated his commitment to fairness and excellence. Jack's heart found its counterpart in Jeanette, his cherished wife of 53 years. Their love story blossomed on the Northside of Chicago, leading to a shared adventure through retirement across the Southern states. Their journey from Texas to Florida was filled with love, laughter, and countless memories. Above all, Jack's proudest role was that of a father to Jack Jr., and a grandfather to Jack III, Summer, and baby Joy. His family was his world, and his legacy lives on through them. Jack's final days were spent surrounded by his adoring family, including his wife, son, daughter-in-law, and grandchildren. He leaves behind a void that can never be filled but also a legacy of love, resilience, and integrity. He was greeted in the next life by his siblings Pete, Joseph, Jimmy, and Carol, who preceded him in death. A Celebration of Jack's Life will be held at the Yacht Club of Emerald Pointe in Punta Gorda, FL, inviting all who knew him to share in remembering a life so beautifully lived. The ceremony will commence on Sunday, April 21, 2024, at 12 noon, reflecting on the joy and love he brought into our lives. Jack's memory will be cherished and remembered by all who had the privilege to know him. He was a pillar of strength, a beacon of kindness, and an example of how to live a life with purpose and love.
