James Monroe
Bond Jr.
August 19, 1940 – July 24, 2024
James Monroe Bond Jr., 83 years old of Ormond Beach Florida, passed away on July 24, 2024, after a prolonged illness. James was born on August 19, 1940 to Agnes and James Bond Sr. in Hampton, VA. He attended Hampton High School. In 1958, he joined the United States Airforce of which he served 4 years, and was honorably discharge. While he was in the service he was stationed in Charleston, S.C., Newport News, Virginia and was deployed to Saudi Arabia for a year. In 1959, James married Jacqueline Guiggey from Westfield, Maine where he was stationed. James and Jacqueline had three children, Jaime (Bond) & Brad Laffins, James Bond 3rd and Lynn (Luty), and Jena (Bond) & Bruce Tracy. In 1964, he relocated with his family to Norwich, CT., to pursue a career as a welder and later he became an instructor. He worked at General Dynamics and Local 40 Sheet Metal Union. In 1986, James retired from General Dynamics. In 1994, he and his wife relocated to Florida to live near the beach. He loved that his children and grandchildren would visit regularly. James and his wife started traveling in their RV, where they would meet up with relatives. James loved playing most any kind of card game. He attended church regularly and was active at several of the churches he attended over the years. James enjoyed the simple pleasures in life with his family and friends. He enjoyed watching any type of sports activity. He loved his fur babies, Molly and Mikey. He was often seen carrying one of them in his arms and felt they were the best in his world. While in the hospital he persuaded the CFO to allow his dogs to come visit him, this made his day. James was predeceased by his parents, Agnes and James M. Bond Sr, and his eldest brother, Thomas Bond. He is survived by his two siblings, Larry Bond and Lois Ann Swaim. His three children and their spouses, as well as his five grandchildren, Prentice, Mitchell, Brett, Samantha and Jordan. And his eight great-grandchildren, Althea, Sawyer, Cyrus, Hunter, Wyatt, Tegan, Bowie, and Kanaloa. A private celebration of life will be held at a later date. James will be missed by his family and friends. Donations can be made in his honor to Wounded Warrior or Tunnels to Towers.
